The idea for the Greater Clarksburg 10K was founded in the fall of 1996 for the purpose of encouraging maximum participation in a fun, innovative and civic minded physical activity which promotes good health and overall wellness to the citizens and friends of North Central West Virginia, thereby, giving businesses, groups, government, families, and individual citizens the occasion to enhance their corporate and collaborative interest in an improved lifestyle.

The 2 Mile Run begins at approximately 10:00 a.m. near the 10K Start Line. Runners complete two loops in downtown Clarksburg. Prizes Over $6,000.00 available in prizes. Free Parking Race Day at the City Parking Garage on Hewes Avenue. Use Downtown Exit off Rt. 50. Race Results Watch for pictures and results on RunHigh.com web site. Special Rules for the Course In accordance with the rules and guidelines issued by USA Track and Field it is our intent to furnish the safest possible racecourse. Those who participate in violation of these rules will be disqualified and removed from the course. The guidelines further state "foot runners and authorized vehicles have the right-of-way at all times." No strollers, headphones, bicycles or roller blades are permitted on the course. Team Competition The Greater Clarksburg 10K encourages friendly team competition. Each participant on the team will pay an entry fee but must register and pay together. Team applications can be obtained by or email: gc10kadm@gmail.com . Traffic The Clarksburg Police Department will provide traffic control with the help of local volunteers. The entire course will be closed to traffic from 8:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. Timing and Race Results Computer timing services will be provided. The Champion Computer Chips will be imbedded in the race bibs. The chip gives times throughout the course. Results will be posted at the award ceremony located at Jackson Square. Massage Massage will be available to runners pre and post race and will be provided by Valarie Dunlevy, a nationally certified massage therapist, and friends. Course Description The course loops twice through residential and business districts over rolling terrain with short hills. Participants follow Main Street to Hardee's, turn left onto Marshall Street; turn left onto Pike Street at the Red Caboose Restaurant; follow Pike Street to Chestnut Street; turn left onto Chestnut Street; turn left onto Main Street; repeat the Course. The Finish Line is near the Harrison County Courthouse on Maint Street. The 10K (6.2 mile) course has been certified and sanctioned by USA Track and Field. Cert. # WV17001MS Course Description: Beginning near the same Start Line as the 10K, the runners will proceed down Main Street and turn left onto 2nd Street and over to Pike Street (the same street the 10K runners turn onto) where the runners will once again turn left back over to Main Street and left back to the Start Line. The runners will do this twice and finish at the Harrison County Court House (same Finish Line as the 10K). Awards for the 2 Mile Run will be given to the top five males and female overall finishers. Each participant will receive a race T-shirt designed just for the event. The course follows a counter-clockwise loop on Route 20. |
